There is a need to change various infotype data on an organizational unit.
Business Process Procedure Overview |
This process is only used to correct minor changes in an infotype, such as spelling errors or incorrect choices made when the infotype was created. There is no history recorded using the change process. If the history of the previous record is required when making the change, see the BPP instructions for how to Copy Organizational Unit Infotypes, which keeps the historical record of all changes made.

Tips and Tricks
· Only use the change process to change minor spelling and typing errors. There is no historical record kept of these changes. To make a change and keep a record of the previous entry, use the Copy function.

Information: Choose the infotype that requires the change. Remember only use the change function for minor spelling changes or when correcting a data entry mistake. Do not use the change function if you want to keep the record of what the previous data was. To keep historical information on a change, use the Copy function.
Critical: The change process does not record the history of the change. If a change needs to be made to fix an error such as an incorrect spelling, then execute the Change function. This will overwrite the existing record. If the history of the specific change is required, use the Copy or Create function with a new validity date range to denote the effective date of the change. This will delimit the previous record when the change is saved.
Information: Typically the All date range will be chosen, since the change should apply to the valid date range of the object. If you are using the Copy function and recording the historical changes made, a specific date range to begin and end the record will be used. In this example a spelling error is corrected, so the change will be made for the entire valid date range of the object.

Information: Notice the informational message at the bottom of the screen. In this case the message reflects SAP's caution towards using a numbering convention for the organizational unit's abbreviation, which is the BEACON naming convention chosen. Click Enter to accept that you have read the message.
